SEATTLE: Navigating Cancer Survivorship Forum
More than 13,000,000 people are living wiht cancer today and this does not include caregivers, family members, friends and those who have lost someone to cancer The survivorship period - that time from end of treatment and, perhaps for years following - is, for many, a wilderness of coping with the "new normal. It is the hope of Gilda's Club that by bringing cancer survivors together in an educational forum setting, they will gain a better understanding of this wilderness of cancer survivorship, and in the process achieve a better and more satisfying quality of living.
This first in what we hope will be a series of forums offers two speakers on pertinent topics, and a panel of cancer survivors. The speakers are Bruce Gimplin, LICSW, and Roger Moore, PhD.
Here's the agenda for the day: 9 am to 1 pm
9:00-9:30 am - Registration, socializing and tours of the clubhouse
9:30-9:45 am - Introduction of the topics of the day
9:45-10:45 am - Bruce Gimplin, LICSW, on the topic of "Emotional Effects of Living with Cancer"
10:45-11:00 am - Break
11:00-12:00 pm - Roger Moore, PhD, on the topic of "Stress, Relaxation and Self Care"
12:00-12:45 pm - Cancer Survivor Panel and discussion
12:45-1:00 pm - Closing remarks, evaluations and handouts
